The 1996 documentary short\u00a0Breathing Lessons: The Life and Work of Mark O\u2019Brien\u00a0<\/em>won JESSICA YU an Oscar for Best Documentary Short where she quipped, “You know you\u2019ve entered new territory when you realize that your outfit cost more than your film.”<\/p>\n

Yu never attended film school but\u00a0has\u00a0gone on to direct for television, as well as\u00a0documentary and fiction features and experimental films – including the 2008 film\u00a0Ping Pong Playa<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n
