Known for her comedy, ELAINE MAY was one of very few women in Hollywood to direct films in the 1970s. An actor\u00a0and\u00a0director she has helmed\u00a0now classic films such as Neil Simon’s\u00a0The Heartbreak Kid <\/em>(1972).<\/p>\n

After the financial and critical disaster of\u00a0Ishtar\u00a0<\/em>May has acted in several films but hasn’t directed since (arguably a fate that would not have befallen an equally skilled male director). She\u00a0is slated to direct a documentary on her comedian partner\u00a0Mike Nichols<\/a>\u00a0who passed away in November 2014.<\/p>\n
