DEE REES began studying business and then went on to get her MFA from NYU. She\u00a0interned\u00a0for Spike Lee before making her first feature film\u00a0Pariah<\/a><\/em> (2011) based on the short she directed of the same name. The film premiered at Sundance and she then\u00a0went on to write and direct\u00a0the Emmy award winning HBO film\u00a0Bessie<\/a><\/em> (2015).<\/p>\n

She is currently developing a television series with Shonda Rhimes.<\/p>\n
