LILIBET FOSTER was nominated for an Academy Award as a producer for her documentary Speaking in Strings (1999).

Foster went on to direct several documentaries including most recently Be Here Now (2015).

Bite-sized blog post: Lynn Hershman Leeson

LYNN HERSHMAN LEESON is most well known for her work as a visual and performance artist but she has also directed several narrative fiction films starring Tilda Swinton – and a feature length documentary about women working in the visual arts, !Women Art Revolution (2010).

Her first feature film Conceiving Ada (1997) premiered at Sundance where she also screened subsequent films, including her hybrid film Strange Culture (2007) which was also exhibited on the Sundance Channel.

ONDI TIMONER studied Theater at Yale University and has gone on to direct numerous documentaries.

She distributes those documentaries through traditional channels but has also been at the forefront of utilizing the internet and new platforms of distribution through A Total Disruption, advocating new ways of telling stories.

DEENA ADAR met the partner of her company Quiet Duke Productions Kai Collins while studying with the comedy group The Groundlings.

They recently produced Thirtyish (2013), a tv pilot together which Adar directed.

Bite-sized blog post: Alana Cash

ALANA CASH has directed documentaries about women and science which have been successfully distributed in academic circles, including the feature Marie Curie: The Woman Behind the Mind (2002).

Bite-sized blog post: Shari Berman

SHARI BERMAN’s feature film My Life as Abraham Lincoln (2012) toured the festival circuit to critical acclaim.

The self-taught director then went on to direct Sugar! (2015) starring Tony-award winning actress Alice Ripley which is now touring the festival circuit – premiering Wednesday July 20th at the Long Island International Film Expo.

Bite-sized blog post: Lorene Scafaria

Before directing for film LORENE SCAFARIA wrote and produced a play at the Producer’s Club in NYC (a small dingy theatre that is the home to many Off-Off-Off Broadway productions).

She went on to write for film and television and has directed for the hit comedy series New Girl. Her latest film directorial endeavor, The Meddler (2015) stars Susan Sarandon.

IVANA MASSETTI originally hails from Italy and since moving to the US has continued to pursue her love for film and social justice issues with One Day in America, a transmedia project “about Justice and the controversial issues that divide this country.”

She has been an active advocate for more women’s directorial voices with her website and movement Women Occupy Hollywood – inspired by the Occupy movement in response to the financial crisis.

Bite-sized blog post: Wendy Jo Carlton

WENDY JO CARLTON is based in Chicago and . Her most recent project is the web series Easy Abby (2013) tells the story of Abby, a 30-year old lesbian woman navigating the world of romance and life and is shot in Chicago.

Her feature film Hannah Free (2009) was based on the play of the same name by Claudia Allen. When she’s not directing Carlton works as a producer for PBS Television and Sirius Radio.

Bite-sized blog post: Rosemary Rodriguez

After her first feature film Acts of Worship (2001) premiered at Sundance Film Festival ROSEMARY RODRIGUEZ began directing television thanks to the John Wells Women and Minority Fellowship.

Her film Silver Skies (2015) had Dennis Farina attached who Rodriguez had worked with on Law & Order and eh passed away two weeks before shooting. She dedicated the finished film to him.
