Andrea Arnold

ANDREA ARNOLD won an Oscar for  her short film Wasp (2004). She was a dancer on Top of the Pops in the 1970s and an actor before becoming a director.

Her feature film American Honey (2016) won the Cannes Grand Jury Prize. She recently directed for Jill Soloway’s series Transparent.

Ricki Stern & Annie Sundberg

RICKI STERN and ANNIE SUNDBERG met while students at Dartmouth and have since gone on to direct several documentaries together, a reality series following Anna Wintour’s and Diane Von Furstenberg’s Fashion Fund competition and have formed a company, Break Thru Films.

Their documentary The Trials of Daryl Hunt (2006) was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award. Their latest endeavor Marathon: The Patriots’ Day Bombing is part of the HBO slate of films announced for this year.

Emmy Award winning director of the Amazon show Transparent JILL SOLOWAY began her career as a writer and only recently took on the role of director when she told her husband she wanted to invest in a feature film and take it to Sundance.

In 2013 her feature directorial debut Afternoon Delight debuted at Sundance.

Sofia Coppola

SOFIA COPPOLA began her career as a still photographer and actress in her famous father’s films, playing an infant in a christening scene in The Godfather (1972).  She learned all about making movies first hand by growing up in the industry and after directing a few shorts made her first feature film The Virgin Suicides (1999) which premiered at Sundance.

She was the third woman to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director with her film Lost in Translation (2003) for which she won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
