The Duplass brothers are known for their indie film making as well as their acting – KATIE ASELTON is part of that production team and directed her first feature, which was self-funded thanks to her acting work, The Freebie (2010).

Her second feature was the the indie thriller Black Rock (2012).

She has also worked as a script supervisor on numerous narrative fiction films. She founded Isotope Films.

Bite-sized blog post: Kathleen Davison

In the midst of post-production for her first film KATHLEEN DAVISON was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She postponed surgery to complete the film.

A graduate of Penn State’s Theatre department Davison moved to Los Angeles and started working on sets in order to learn about making movies. Her feature film Primrose Lane (2015) has garnered her critical acclaim in the festival circuit and she is healthy post-surgery!

AMANDA MARSALIS’ directorial feature debut Echo Park (2014) was picked up for distribution by Ava Duvernay’s company ARRAY and can be viewed on Netflix.

Marsalis began her career as a photographer studying at California College of Arts and Crafts.

JANN TURNER studied at Oxford and got her MFA from NYU. She co-wrote and directed her first feature The White Wedding in 2008.

Turner made her American television directing debut in 2012 with The Big C starring Laura Linney.

Bite-sized blog post: Ali Scher

ALI SCHER got her MFA from USC after directing theatre as an Undergrad. She won a Student Emmy and won the DGA Jury Award for Best Female Filmmaker.

She went on to create her own webseries Candy Land and her first feature Jessica Darling’s It List produced by Disney is set to come out this year.
