VALERIE BREIMAN’s film Love & Sex (2000) was based on her relationship with Adam Rifkin, who also wrote a script on the subject of their relationship that didn’t make it to the screen.

Breiman began her career as an actress and started directing with her first feature Going Overboard (1989), an Adam Sandler film.

MARCY BOYLE and RACHEL HOLZMAN met while students at Barnard College in New York. They collaborated on scripts and both had written bigger budget fair that wasn’t getting produced so they decided to collaborate on a project they could do themselves. Nobody Can Cool (2015), a neo-noir-horror thriller was born!

They are now collaborating on a documentary about Hollywood producer Debra Hill who after successfully producing the Halloween movies as well as critically acclaimed movies such as The Fisher King (1991) and many others died at age 55 of cancer.

ANGELINA JOLIE is of course best known as an actress but after establishing herself in that arena she has gone on to direct. Her first film was a documentary A Place in Time where around the world several filmmakers participated in filming at the same moment.

Her next film, the narrative feature In the Land of Blood and Honey (2011) was a passion project that led her to directing subsequent projects – most recently a film in Cambodia where she previously worked as an actor and from where she adopted one of her children.

Much like Mary Pickford in the early days of the industry Streisand insists on shaping her own career. She was the Oscar presenter for the monumental moment when Kathryn Bigelow became the first woman to win an Academy Award for Best Director.
