HANNELLE M. CULPEPPER studied French and Economics as an undergraduate before studying communications at USC.

She began her career as a writer and directed the short film A Single Rose (2003) with a grant from the AFI Directing Workshop for Women and has gone on to direct for numerous television series.

Bite-sized blog post: Jennifer Warren

JENNIFER WARREN has acted in numerous films and is also a member of the Alliance of Women Directors. She attended the Directing Women Workshop at AFI and then went on to direct narrative feature films.

Her second feature film Partners in Crime (2000) was distributed in America by Artisan Films.

MAGGIE KILEY went to the prestigious AFI Directing Workshop for Women where she segued into directing after a successful acting career. Her short film screened at Tribeca.

Kiley’s debut feature film Brightest Star (2013) received the Panasonic New Filmmaker Grant.

Bite-sized blog post: Drew Denny

DREW DENNY began her adult life as a documentary photographer traveling the world. She has gone on to make music and movies.

Her feature film The Most Fun I’ve Had with My Pants on (2012) was an AFI Official Selection, screened at the Mill Valley Film Festival along with other film festivals around the world.

BARBARA STEPANSKY received a Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting. She has studied filmmaking at UCLA, USC and AFI.

Her first feature film Hurt (2009) was a thriller released on DVD by Monterey Media.

Bite-sized blog post: Deborah Attoinese

DEBORAH ATTOINESE directed a documentary On Directing (2014) featuring directors Agnes Varda, Wim Wenders, Roland Joffe and Bille August which is available on Fandor.

Attoinese worked as a fashion photographer before making her first feature film Zoe (2001) which was screened at AFI, Palm Springs International Film Festival and other prestigious festivals.

Bite-sized blog post: Jenée LaMarque

JENEE LA MARQUE studied creative writing at Stanford before taking extension courses in Screenwriting at UCLA and eventually getting her MFA in Screenwriting from AFI.

Her directorial feature debut The Pretty One (2013) stars Zoe Kazan, granddaughter of the famous director Elia Kazan.

Bite-sized blog post: Alexis O. Korycinski

ALEXIS O. KORYCINSKI was a participant in the prestigious AFI Directing Workshop for Women.

Her documentary feature Defining Beauty: Ms. Wheelchair America (2011) premiered at the Newport Beach Film Festival where it won the Audience Award for Best Documentary.

Bite-sized blog post: Susanna Styron

After receiving an MFA in filmmaking from AFI, SUSANNA STYRON directed her first feature film Shadrach (1998) based on a short story written by her father, the famous novelist William Styron

She went on to direct for television and while wading through the difficulties of development that is so often associated with narrative fiction films she directed a documentary with an incredible cast of real life heroes from the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York.
