NEEMA BARNETTE is the first African-American sticom director and she has directed numerous sitcoms.

Barnette has joined forces with Ava Duvernay on her new show Queen Sugar which brags an all female directing slate. She graduated with a BA from the City College of New York and an MFA from NYU Tisch School o f the Arts.

Julie Delpy may be a famous French actress but she’s also a director. Her first feature film Looking for Jimmy (2002) was shot in real time in Los Angeles – only stopping the shoot when camera batteries had to be changed.

She went on to write and direct Two Days in Paris (2007) and the sequel Two Days in New York (2012).

Miranda July

MIRANDA JULY was raised in Berkeley, CA and made her feature film debut with Me and You and Everyone  (2005) which was shot digitally before ti was ubiquitous and won the Camera d’Or at Cannes.

She went on to make the feature film The Future (2011) and has recently written a novel.

BRENDA CHAPMAN was the first woman to direct an animated feature for a studio with Dreamworks’ Prince of Egypt (1998).

She co-directed Pixar’s Brave (2012) making her also the first woman to win an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
