RACHEL FELDMAN directed numerous television episodes and movies after moving to LA from NYC where she got her MFA at NYU and was a chair of the DGA Women’s Steering Committee.

She is currently in development on a bio pic about Lilly Ledbetter the woman who is the namesake for the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act demanding equal pay for equal work!

Kasi Lemmons

In 1997 Roger Ebert. wrote of KASI LEMMON’s first feature film, “There has been no more assured and powerful film debut this year than Eve’s Bayou.” She won the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature that year.

Lemmons appeared as an actor in several films before her directorial debut and has gone on to direct several feature films with notable actors and in 2002 gave the tribute to Sidney Poitier at the 74th Academy Awards celebration.

Jan Eliasberg

After receiving an MFA from Yale’s drama program and directing for prominent theatre companies JAN ELIASBERG was well-equipped to direct character driven television shows with an emphasis on performance and started out directing for shows such as Cagney & Lacey and LA Law after attending the AFI Directing Workshop for Women.

She was then chosen by Michael Mann to be the first woman to direct an episode of  the action packed TV series Miami Vice which allowed her to segue into directing action. She ended up directing three episodes for the series and then used those action skills to direct her feature film Past Midnight (1991).

Leah Meyerhoff

When in pre-production for her first feature film I Believe in Unicorns (2014) LEAH MEYERHOFF gathered a group of female filmmakers for a dinner party to talk about their experiences. That one night snowballed into an organization known as Film Fatales with chapters all over the country and expanding internationally.

Meyerhoff went to Berkeley High School in Northern California and got her MFA at NYU.

Dee Rees

DEE REES began studying business and then went on to get her MFA from NYU. She interned for Spike Lee before making her first feature film Pariah (2011) based on the short she directed of the same name. The film premiered at Sundance and she then went on to write and direct the Emmy award winning HBO film Bessie (2015).

She is currently developing a television series with Shonda Rhimes.

Debra Granik

Before attending New York University’s MFA program in Film DEBRA GRANIK worked as a videographer for trade unions where she first became interested in characters and sharing their stories.

In 2011 her film Winter’s Bone was nominated for an Academy Award and catapulted Jennifer Lawrence into the category of A-list actor.
